Best Bars in Prague

Hello everyone! Back again with a blog post on 14 of my favorite bars or clubs in Prague. This is a list of my personal favorite places to go in the great city that is Prague. The list is presented in alphabetical order. I highly recommend checking out all the places on the list you'l have a lot of fun I'm sure. If you have any suggestions for the list put them in the comments!

1. The Beer Museum - Not so much a museum as a bar that is a shrine to the holy elixir that is beer. This place has 30 beers on tap! Not in bottles or cans, but 30 different and excellent beers from all over Europe including popular favorites like Pilsner Urquell and smaller breweries like my personal favorite the Demon. This place is a beer drinkers paradise with every kind of beer you can think of. Not the cheapest place, but the prices aren't outrageous. With some good seating area this is a great place to meet up with people.

2. The Big Lebowski - This bar exudes the feeling and atmosphere of the legendary movie it's named after. This place is tiny I mean tiny. You can hardly fit in more than a group of 4 to 8 people in the place, but it's definitely worth it. It's very relaxed and laid back so much so there are no prices on the menu or anything else. When you leave the bar you pay how much ever you want to pay, just don't be a dick. The place serves the usual bar drinks including White Russians (of course) and awesome grilled cheese. The atmosphere of the place is completed with plenty of board games, cards, and hookahs.

3. Choco Bamba - Another very relaxed bar with cheap prices. This is an excellent place to just lay back drink a beer and smoke. Lots of Czechs smoking, drinking, playing pinball, and listening to great music. Not really much else to say, but check it out and relax.

4. Cross Club - A great club with a very unique and interesting look to it. This club has a lot of winding hallways, side rooms, and a decor that is made out of scrap metal pieces. The prices aren't outrageous and the club places an interesting and eclectic mix of music. Some of it not your standard club fare.

5. Deja Vu - This is another club with a more relaxed attitude and reasonable prices. It's located near the center of town which is good for getting back home at night. If you don't feel much like dancing there are a few side-rooms off the dance floor where people can kick back and relax on the beanbags. This place also places an interesting and eclectic mix of music.

6. Drunken Monkey - If you're missing a bit of the American feel this is the place to go. This bar could hardly be anymore American if they tried. Owned by a couple of Americans this place is always a drunken sloppy mess of fun. The place puts on a bar crawl every night that if you pay for (300 to 500 crowns) begins with about 90 minutes of free beer, shots, wine, and cuba libre. After getting ludicrously drunk they walk you around to about 3 other clubs, usually including Deja Vu and Nebe, where you get a free entrance shot. Even if you don't go on the bar crawl the place is very cheap (beer from 25 crowns) and often plays American sports late into the night.

7. U Fleku - This is more of a restaurant/brewery, but the reason the place is included on the list is because it has some of the best beer I've had in Prague or anywhere else for that matter. It's as simple as that. This place has been making excellent beer right on the premises for centuries. It's unfiltered and the only beer they serve or need to serve.

8. G-Point - This bar can be very difficult to find if you don't have help. It is quite a ways out there and very secluded. But finding it is part of the fun. The place is very laid-back and cheap. It's located inside a dorm building (building G, hence the name) and you have to be buzzed in. The staff is very friendly and it is worth the effort though. The place doesn't even have a website I can link too.

9. U Krale Brabantskeho - This place is a little more expensive and perhaps touristy, but it also has an excellent medieval atmosphere. It puts on a Medieval show and has some excellent period food. This place can be a lot of fun if you're looking to travel back in time.

10. Ocko - Ocko is just a great big club that is lots of fun. It's located underground in an old parking garage that has been retrofitted into a club. The place is big, environment cool, and prices reasonable.

11. Propaganda Pub - This bar contains pieces from the communist area but one of its biggest attractions is 12 crown beer on Mondays from 7pm until the first keg runs out.

12. The PUB - A very unique bar with big tables and a computer screen with taps in the middle. At this bar the server hands you mugs and you pour your own beer from the taps in the middle. You can keep track of exactly how much beer each person at the table has poured (down to the hundredth liter) and how much the whole table has poured together. There is also a projector screen that shows which tables have poured the most beer at that bar and also at other PUB locations around Europe. The whole thing becomes a big competition and a lot of fun. They taps pour Pilsner Urquell (the standard Czech beer) and you can also order songs and food on the computer screens. Prices are very reasonable.

13. U Sudu - A great cellar bar with lots of room and big tables. It's a great place to take a larger group of people and get drinks at a great price in an awesome medieval style cellar.

14. Vagon - An excellent Rock club/bar that has a live band from 9pm until midnight every night. The live acts include Czech rock bands and cover bands of Classic Rock music including Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Janis Joplin, Guns N' Roses, Rolling Stones, The Doors, Abba, Nirvana, Queen, Jimi Hendrix, RHCP, Black Sabbath, U2, ACDC, and others. So far all the shows I've seen have been excellent. After midnight they have DJ's playing a mix of all kinds of rock music. It has a dance floor, a large seating area with large tables, a foosball table, good sound, and cheap drinks (beer from 28 crowns). The place is not a tourist destination at all and is full of Czech people if you're looking for some international interaction.
